One of the advantages of action-sport cameras is that they are extremely small and do not require a viewfinder to operate due to the extremely wide lens. You can point them to a general direction and usually capture what’s happening around you. If you spend a little post processing time in reframing and trimming the footage it’s possible to capture moments that would be difficult with a full size DSLR. I usually walk around towns with a GoPro attached at the end of my monopod and hit the record button without even looking at the camera.
